Green Stone Team from the Faculty of Science, Beni Suef University Wins the International Plan Award at Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally 2025
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Wael Nabil Hozien, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. Dr. Abdelazim Shaaban Abdelbaqi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Dr. Salah Moawad, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, the Green Stone team from the Faculty of Science, representing Beni Suef University, achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning the International Plan Award, valued at EGP 75,000, at the Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally 2025.
The competition was organized by the Entrepreneurship Center at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, under the patronage of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (Egypt), the Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund at the Ministry of Higher Education, along with several supporting institutions and organizations. The event witnessed the participation of a large number of teams from universities across Egypt.
The winning project, “Sustainable Production of Bio-Cement through the Circular Utilization of Mollusk Waste, Diatoms, and Fungal Systems,” presents an innovative and environmentally friendly solution. The project aligns with Egypt’s national strategy to address climate change and explore sustainable alternatives.
The Green Stone team includes:
1. Doaa Abdelazim El-Shafei – Fourth-year student, Zoology and Chemistry Department
2. Dr. Osama Owais – Assistant Lecturer, Parasitology and Invertebrates Division, Zoology and Chemistry Department
3. Dr. Ola Abdelaziz – Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Advanced Sciences
